Japan TELEC/JATE certification

The "Wireless Telegraphy Act" requires model approval for specified radio equipment. Certification is mandatory, and the certification bodies are registered certification organizations recognized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) within the scope of designated radio equipment. TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center) is the primary registered certification organization for radio equipment conformity certification in Japan.

Regulations

What is the difference between Japanese electronic product certification, Japanese radio wave certification, TELEC certification, and MIC certification?

Wireless products have strict regulatory standards in various countries, such as SRRC certification in China, FCC-ID certification in the United States, and kcC certification in South Korea. In Japan, the certification for wireless products is Telec certification, also known as mic certification. This has left many customers wondering what is the difference between these two certifications? Now let‘s take everyone to understand.

TELEC certification mark

1、 There are two main differences:

definition
Telec (Telecom Engineering Center) is the main registered certification agency for compliance certification of radio equipment in Japan.
Mic (registry of internal affairs and communications) is the zhengfu organization in Japan that regulates radio frequency equipment.

2、 Main differences

Mic is the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of japan, which is responsible for the preparation of regulations and standards. telec is one of the licensing agencies designated by mic, so it is correct to call telec certification/mic certification.

Certified products
TELEC (MIC) certification targets mainly wireless products, which mainly fall into the following four categories:

(1).2.4G products

(2). Bluetooth products

(3). WiFi products

(4). RFID products

3、 Certification type

TELEC (MIC) certification includes Test Certification and Type Certification.
Test certification is validation for each device unit, which is only valid for each validated device unit; Type certification refers to the verification of samples of a batch of equipment designed and manufactured in the same way. This certification is valid for all batches of equipment, but if there are changes in the design or manufacturing of the equipment, the equipment will need to be re certified.

It is worth noting that for the use of non low-power wireless power stations and their terminal equipment, it is necessary to apply for a license from MIC. In addition, there are two types of compliance certification for telecommunications terminal equipment: for ordinary telephone devices, JATE certification is only required according to the requirements of the Telecommunications Industry Law; For wireless terminal devices, in addition to JATE certification required by the Telecommunications Industry Law, TELEC certification is also required by the Wireless Electricity Law.

4、 Certification materials

The documents required for Telec certification include:

(1). System block diagram

(2). System schematic

(3). User manual

(4). Operating instructions

(5). BOM Table

(6). Module schematic

(7). Module block diagram

(8). Module Specification

(9). ISO 9001 certificate of manufacturer

(10). Label location and label sample drawing or photos

(11). Antenna specification: including antenna name, antenna form, antenna gain, antenna measurement diagram, antenna appearance and dimension diagram.
Reminder: The information provided above must be in English/Japanese.
TELEC is a mandatory certification for wireless products in Japan, similar to the SRRC certification in China. It follows Japan‘s radio wave law. The specific test specification is in accordance with the Notice No. 88 regulation of the MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan).

5、 Certification process

Japanese Telec certification application process:

(1) Customer: Submit the application form to the laboratory, prepare the samples, sign the contract, and pay the advance payment.

(2) Laboratory: Testing and reporting, preliminary review of data, time: 2 weeks.

(3) Authorized issuing agency in Japan: Final review, issuance of draft, issuance of certificate, customer payment of final payment, time: 1-2 weeks.

The overall certification cycle is 3-4 weeks, which can be expedited!
