Japan PSE certification

PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification in Japan, used to demonstrate that electrical and electronic products have passed safety standard tests under Japan‘s Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (DENAN Law) or international IEC standards. Japan‘s DENAN Law, which governs electrical devices and materials, mandates that 498 types of products entering the Japanese market must undergo PSE safety certification. Among them, 165 types of Class A products should obtain the diamond-shaped PSE mark, while 333 types of Class B products should obtain the circular PSE mark.

What are the specific differences between circular PSE certification

PSE is a mandatory safety certification in Japan. Starting from April 1, 2001, the "Electrical Equipment and Material Control Law (DENTORL)" has been officially renamed as the "Electrical Product Safety Law (DENAN)" to prove that motor and electronic products have passed the safety standard testing of the Japanese Electrical and Raw Material Safety Law (DENAN Law) or international IEC standards; Among them, 498 products entering the Japanese market must pass safety certification. Among them, 165 A-class products should obtain the diamond shaped PSE logo, and 333 B-class products should obtain the circular PSE logo. The Japanese PSE certification mark is divided into diamond and circular shapes, and there are regulations and differences in which products are made into diamond and circular shapes.

The difference between PSE certification circular and diamond markings:

1. PSE diamond certification mark:

All products belonging to the "specific electrical supplies" category must be certified by a third-party certification agency authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan to enter the Japanese market, obtain a certification certificate, and affix a diamond shaped PSE mark on the label.
The validity period of the diamond PSE certificate is 3 years, 5 years, and 7 years (depending on the product)

2. PSE circular certification mark:

All products belonging to the category of "non-specific electrical products" shall be self tested by the enterprise or entrusted by a third-party certification agency to comply with the requirements of the electrical safety law. The test results and certificates shall be kept, and a circular PSE mark shall be affixed to the label.

Circular PSE certificates are usually self declared by factories or test reports issued by third-party laboratories/certification agencies

remarks:
The definition of "specific electrical equipment": electrical equipment with a high probability of danger from the perspective of construction, use method, or other usage conditions: ① used without monitoring for a long time; ② Used by socially disadvantaged groups; ③ Electrical appliances used in direct contact with the human body.

For example, wires and cables, fuses, wiring appliances (electrical accessories, lighting appliances, etc.), current limiters, transformers, ballasts, electric heating appliances, electrical power application machinery appliances (household appliances), electronic application machinery appliances (high-frequency hair removal devices), other AC electrical machinery appliances (electric shock insecticides, DC power supply devices), and portable engines, all of which require Japanese PSE diamond certification.
