1. Confirm the target operator and the frequency band to be used.

PTCRB certification is a North American network access test certification, which is related to specific operators. You need to clarify in advance which target operator you want to choose, which operator you want to take into account, and then comprehensively consider and screen out the frequency bands you want to support.

For example, the target operator is AT&T, and the concurrent operator is Verzion. The B66 frequency band can be added. Both operators support this frequency band, but the B42 frequency band is useless.

2. The product has primary and secondary dual-card products, and AT switching commands or software upgrades are ready.

Some products are dual-card applications, but there is only one card on the network. This requires AT commands to be prepared. During the test, AT commands need to be used to switch to the secondary card, activate the network injection, and verify the network performance of the secondary card.

3. Prepare FCC ID and CID.

FCC certification, CID certification and PTCRB certification are three different certifications, but PTCRB certification requires that they be submitted together when listing. It can be provided in advance before PTCRB certification, and we will verify whether it is valid.

4. The battery needs to meet the long-term test requirements.

In the PTCRB certification test, the OTA test is a routine requirement. When performing the OTA test, it is required to test TRP and TIS continuously with the base station for a long time (several hours in a row) and with high power. If it is disconnected (some products with poor heat dissipation will also seriously affect the working time of the battery), the entire test is interrupted and the previous test data is invalid and needs to be retested.

5. Confirm which functions of the product are needed and which are not.

If some products have MIMO functions, you need to inform them before evaluation. Once you don’t need waiver, it will be difficult. You need to inform PTCRB and have a good reason why you need to waiver. The actual sale later brings trouble.

6. It is best to determine the product model before certification.

PTCRB certification has strict requirements on the model, and the model cannot be changed at will. Once the model is set, a fixed Request # number will be generated after submitting the Request, and the model cannot be changed. If you want to change it, you need to submit the Request again, which will involve the modification of the pics table Unlike changes that may require testing requirements, the Request number is different from the test report and cannot be certified.

7. After the hardware and appearance are confirmed, the software firmware version also needs to be confirmed.

Many people think that software and hardware versions are not important. In fact, PTCRB certification has something to do with software and firmware versions. The firmware information in the software version number will be verified during the test process, especially on products that use certified modules. , this is critical information, reflashing different firmware during the test may cause the content of the previous test to be retested.

The software version number is related to the firmware. When many modules are certified, the frequency bands and pics in the flash firmware meet the requirements of major operators. The flash firmware needs to meet the requirements of the target operator version, otherwise it cannot be obtained. 8. There are multiple products with the same design that need to be certified.

Decide which one will be used as the prototype certification (Initial) and which one will be used for the modification certification (Variant), and let us know after selection.
