1. Android Auto Certification Preface
Android Auto is an in-vehicle platform from Google that allows drivers to connect their Android devices (e.g., smartphones) to the vehicle‘s display for safer and easier access to certain apps and services while driving.
In order to ensure compatibility and user experience of the Android Auto system across different vehicles, automakers need to follow Google‘s technical standards and guidelines for Android Auto certification.
Vehicles certified for Android Auto can use Google Maps, music players, messaging apps and other compatible apps that automatically adapt to the vehicle‘s display and controls so drivers can operate them safely.Android Auto has two ways to connect to the car, wired and wireless, and is commonly connected via a wired USB connection to the Android Auto has two ways to connect to the car, wired and wireless, and is commonly paired with an Android device through a wired USB connection.
2.Common Terms and Usage Scenarios
Android Auto
Android Auto is a platform that runs on a user‘s mobile phone and projects the Android Auto user experience to a compatible in-car infotainment system via a USB connection. Android Auto supports applications designed for in-car use.AACT is included in the GMS certification for mobile phones, used to connect to Android Automotive‘s car and stereo, and must be supported by the mobile phone type; other devices are not required.
Android Automotive
An operating system and platform that runs directly on in-vehicle hardware. It is a full-stack, open-source, highly customisable platform that powers the infotainment experience.
Android Automotive supports apps built for Android as well as apps built for Android Auto.
GAS Certification
A collection of apps and services that automotive OEMs can choose to licence and integrate into their in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems.
Android Auto Certification
Android Auto Certification is Google‘s process of certifying automakers, device manufacturers, and related accessories to ensure that their products are compatible with the Android Auto platform and provide a consistent user experience, without limiting Linux or other platform operating systems.

4.Android Auto certification test content
PCTS (Portable Communications Test Set)
It is used to test and verify the performance of wireless communication systems, such as mobile phone networks and radio communication systems. In vehicle testing, PCTS may be used to test in-vehicle communication systems, such as Vehicle to Vehicle (V2X) communications, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, and so on.
Senser Log
A data logging tool used to record and analyse data from vehicle sensors. In vehicle testing, this tool helps testers monitor and evaluate the performance and accuracy of vehicle sensors (e.g. speed sensors, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, etc.).
Qsuite
A specific test software suite or toolset used to perform a variety of tests on vehicles or on-board systems. Specific functions may include functional testing, performance testing, compatibility testing, etc.
VRRT (Vehicle Routing and Response Testing)
Vehicle Routing and Response Testing, a test methodology for evaluating the performance of vehicle navigation systems and automated driving systems under different route planning and response scenarios.
Performance Test
Performance Test, which is a type of test used to evaluate the performance of a system or component under specific workloads, such as response time, processing speed, throughput, etc. In vehicle testing
performance testing may involve vehicle dynamics, handling performance, processing performance of on-board systems, etc.
Plugbot
Hardware testing tool for automated hardware interface testing. In vehicle testing, Plugbot may be used to test the connection and communication between the in-vehicle system and external devices (e.g. smartphones, USB devices, etc.).
AOAP(Android Open Accessory Protocol)
Android Open Accessory Protocol, a protocol that allows Android devices to communicate with external hardware accessories (e.g., in-vehicle systems). In vehicle testing, AOAP may be used to test the compatibility and interoperability of Android devices with in-vehicle systems.
5. Advantages of Android Auto Certification
Android Auto certification brings multiple advantages to device manufacturers and consumers:
Enhanced User Experience
With Android Auto certification, manufacturers can provide drivers with an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, making it safer and more convenient to use apps on smartphones while driving.
Enhance vehicle appeal
Can be used as a selling point for the device to attract consumers who are looking for a high-tech in-car experience.
Seamless integration of Google services
Allows drivers to seamlessly access Google Maps, Google Assistant, music services and other apps in the Google ecosystem that are popular worldwide.
Simplifies the development process
Google offers a standardised set of APIs and development tools, which helps automakers streamline the integration process and reduce development time and costs.
Improve safety
Designed to reduce distractions while driving, it helps drivers stay focused on the road through voice control and a simplified user interface.
Enhance brand image
Can enhance a brand‘s technological image, demonstrating a manufacturer‘s commitment to providing the latest technology and innovation.
Deeplight Technology can assist customers with the entire process of application, agreement authorisation, pre-testing and formal testing.
Android Auto certification is currently divided into two cases:
1.already have their own member account, according to the process of deep light technology to help step by step to complete.
2.without an account, Shamkuang Standard Technology can assist customers to obtain authorisation, Android Auto software development, pre-testing, formal testing, review and approval.
